Pag Island - Island of Pag - Otok Pag - Insel Pag

Of all the Dalmatia islands in the Adriatic Sea, Pag Island is probably the quietest. The population is about 8,000 and while it enjoys the same Mediterranean weather as the other islands, it tends to keep a lower profile. It’s the fifth largest island off the Croatia coast and is the one with the longest coastline. While its main source of income is still tourism, like the other islands it grows grapes, olives and other produce. It also herds sheep and sells the wool. The south and west coast of the Pag Island is low lying as apposed to the north and west coast which has high cliffs. The south-eastern side of Pag Island has a number of capes one of which has a small fishing village that tourists can go visit.

Oddly enough, there are no surface streams on the island, but there are some fresh water springs and several lakes. Pag Island is a rocky island compared to some of its neighboring islands, the island is connected by one long road running through the island like a spine.

For the yachtsman there are several major ports and yachting marinas that you can visit.

Tourists will be able to enjoy the ruins whilst on Pag Island, the forts and old towns and fields, ruins from the Bronze Age can be found between the towns of Kosljun and Simun,  1st century remnants are also visible, Ancient Romans fortified parts of the Island to defend themselves against the Illyrian.

If you are after a bit of piece and quiet and to get away from the hustle and bustle Pag Island is for you, the Island has great  terrain for the hikers, ruins for the historians and perfect weather for the people who just want to lie around.

The island has some fantastic accommodation with some of the most beautiful and luxurious accommodations in the Adriatic sea, huge homes, quaint villas, and luxurious hotel suites that will amaze you, some with five star ratings.

Some people come here for the quiet, some for the largest and most deluxe mini-mansions that are available to rent on the Dalmatian Islands. The rich and famous must have all gotten together and found the luxurious and most secluded place on the planet. Most rentable homes are three stories, on the water, and have huge balconies with unobstructed views of the Adriatic. If you really want to get away from it all and really want to pamper yourself, go to Pag Island.
